Whether you are new to gardening, have been doing it for years, or have never started seeds, there is an opportunity to learn about the planting process and key math concepts.

The purpose of the questions in this PDF is to spark math conversations before you start planting, as an oral discussion while you get your hands dirty, and post-planting to consolidate math concepts.

Learning how to grow food instills a sense of responsibility and patience in children as they witness the entire process from seed to harvest.

I hope that as you go through this activity book, you will see how multiple math strands can be weaved through the inquiry process of growing food and be inspired to craft mathematical questions while your children engage in experiential learning.

  • Anyone who is gardening and teaching their children how to grow food!

    Forest and Nature Schools, Alternative Schools, Homeschoolers, Unschoolers, and Parents.

    Children ages 4 to 10

  • Early Primary to Primary is for children around late Kindergarten to Grade 1, even Grade 2 level.

    Primary to Junior is for children around Grade 1 to Grade 3, even Grade 4 level.

    Junior is for children around Grades 4 to 6 level.

    A Pre-Kindergarten and early Kindergarten will be released in the next few weeks.

    I did not make these activity books specific to a grade for a reason, but it does follow the progression of learning Math concepts.
